Concrete Block
Many years ago, there was a ski area on Horn Pond Mountain. The parking lot and lifts were located behind the shopping plaza in Woburn that now contains Toys R Us and Whole Foods.
When I was in second grade, I skied here — going up on the rope tow (or T-bar — I don’t remember which), but the last run of the day we went up the chair lift. Unfortunately, the only trails down from the chairlift were too advanced for my ability, and I broke my leg.
This photo shows what I believe to be one of the remaining foundations from the top end of chair lift. The lift itself is long gone, but it’s still fun to hike up the hill and enjoy the view of Horn Pond and Boston.
