Sailing on the Markermeer

A beautiful day for a sail on the Markermeer. This is the southern portion of the IJsselmeer, part of the "wet heart of the Netherlands." Much of the land surrounding the IJsselmeer has been reclaimed, resulting in formerly underwater land becoming livable and protected from flooding, as a result of huge dam and dike construction projects.
