Master and Commander
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World opens November 14th. This movie, based on the popular series of books by the late Patrick O'Brian, is long awaited by a huge number of O'Brian fans. In particular, the "who should play Jack, Stephen, etc." debate has been a recurring topic in the POB discussion list for years.
The twenty-book series tells the story of Captain Jack Aubrey, his friend and ship's surgeon Stephen Maturin, and life in Nelson's Navy in the Napoleonic wars. Let's hope that the movie can live up to the high standards set by O'Brian's prose and attention to detail.
