Marblehead Light

Marblehead Light, still an active aid to navigation, is located on Marblehead Neck, in Chandler Hovey Park. When I was little, my family used to visit this park occasionally, and I enjoyed climbing around on the base of the lighthouse. The door to the lighthouse was always padlocked, thwarting my wishes to visit the top.
Then, several years ago, I was visiting the park, and I noticed the door was ajar. Inside, a narrow spiral staircase led up to the light. After all those years, it was great to have a chance to go up, study the lighthouse, and enjoy the magnificent view. Wish I'd had a camera with me!
