At the summit of Horn Pond Mountain, there is a fence which surrounds some sort of small abandoned quarry or pit. I love the way this sign looks with the color saturation cranked way up.

The "abandoned pit" you refer to is most certainly the old reservoir. I remember walking up there with your grandfather many years ago. Now see if you can find the "Indian Bowl". It's hollowed out of a boulder on the mountain side, I think nearer the top than the bottom. Purportedly indians (NAs) used it to process corn and/or grain. By the way, this is another great picture.
