The American Revolution began here, on the Lexington Battle Green, on April 19, 1775. This date is celebrated as Patriots’ Day each year in Massachusetts, as well as Maine. In the background of this photo is the First Parish Church.

Revolutionary War Monument
This Revolutionary War Monument is is on the Lexington Battle Green, not far from the Minuteman Statue. The monument was completed in 1799, and commemorates the first men killed in the Revolutionary War.
